Hostsonaten is one of the many Fabio Zuffanti projects. Fabio is one of the most creative and active Italian musician of the last 15 years, band leader in groups such as Finisterre, Maschera Di Cera, Quadraphonic, laZona, Aries and with a solo career under his name. Zuffanti give life to Hostsonaten in 1996 becoming the leader and only composer with the aid of many musicians friends. 

Hostsonaten's music is inspired manly by nordic prog rock style with jazzy, folk, ethnic, and classical flavours.

After the first two albums in 1996 and 1998 Fabio decided to create a large project in four albums: a 'musical painting' in four movements dedicated to the four seasons. The title of the whole opera is 'Sesasoncycle Suite' and, at this moment, part IV (Springsong, 2002. Reprinted in a new version in 2009) and part III (Winterthrough, 2008), dedicated to spring and winter, has been published.    

Hostsonaten's albums has reach a great critical and selling success in the whole world. After the historical Italian bands of the '70s Zuffanti is the most important and well-know italian prog artist of the new italian progressive scene.

Autumnsymphony continue his trip through the seasons representing the 2nd part of the 'Sesasoncycle Suite'.
In that album the melancholic feeling, that will reach his top on the winter chapter, give life to many moments of pure musical poetry. The music seems often like a lost soundtrack of some  Andreij Tarkowskij' movie, a very important director and one of the greatest inspiration for Fabio's music and life.
The jazzy influences (mainly british jazz, the one of groups such as Nucleus), more evident in this album, are unite with a chamber music mood. The acoustic instruments  (violas, violins, cello, trumpet, double bass, etc...) is often supported by a rock rhythm section with great mellotron and moog sounds. 
The voice, for the first time in the 'Sesasoncycle Suite', fly high and bring the autumnal vortex to the winter spirals, fall deep in the abyss and left the listener alone with his emotions.


Hostsonaten è un progetto che il musicista genovese Fabio Zuffanti (uno dei musicisti italiani più creativi e attivi degli ultimi 15 anni, band-leader in svariati gruppi tra i quali Finisterre, Maschera Di Cera, Quadraphonic, laZona, Aries oltre che titolare di un progetto solista a suo nome) porta avanti dal 1996. In tale progetto Zuffanti è deus ex macchina e unico compositore e si circonda di valenti musicisti ospiti che lo aiutano a tessere la tela nella maniera migliore.
La musica di Hostsonaten trae ispirazione dalle fulgide pagine del prog sinfonico di stampo nordico a cui si uniscono volta per volta accenni di folk, jazz elettrico, classica e musica etnica.
Dopo i due primi cd pubblicati rispettivamente nel 1996 e nel 1998, dal 2001 Fabio decide di costruire attorno alla musica di Hostsonaten un ampio progetto da svilupparsi nell'arco di quattro album. Una sorta
di 'affresco musicale' in quattro movimenti concernente le quattro stagioni e pubblicato nel corso degli anni in sequenza contraria, ovvero dall'ultima parte alla prima.
Il titolo complessivo dell'opera è 'Sesasoncycle Suite' e al momento sono state pubblicate la IV parte (Springsong, 2002. Ristampato in una nuova versione nel 2009) e la III (Winterthrough, 2008) dedicate a
primavera ed inverno.
Gli album pubblicati da Hostsonaten hanno raggiunto un grande successo di critica e di pubblico, le vendite sono state considerevoli in tutto il mondo e hanno portato Fabio e il suo progetto ad imporsi come 'best
seller' e personaggio più popolare nell'ambito del nuovo progressive italiano, primo dopo i grandi gruppi degli anni 70.
Autumnsymphony procede il viaggio a ritroso nelle stagioni rappresentando la II parte dell'opera. In questo album la sensazione di struggente malinconia, che troverà il suo culmine nel capitolo invernale, raggiunge momenti di pura poesia. Attimi in cui la musica sembra sposarsi perfettamente a certe atmosfere sospese care al cinema di Andreij Tarkowskij al punto che questo disco potrebbe rappresentare l'ideale colonna sonora di un'opera del grande registra russo, tanta è l'influenza che questi ha esercitato negli anni nella musica e nel pensiero di Zuffanti.
Le istanze jazz (un jazz tipicamente inglese che ha trovato la sua più alta espressione in gruppi come i Nucleus), in questo album più presenti e focalizzate, si fondono con un fare melodico tipico della
musica da camera. Gli strumenti acustici (viole, violini, violoncelli, tromba, contrabbasso, etc...) formano un' ensemble che a tratti si fa leggero ma che altrettanto spesso si fonde con le ritmiche rock esplodendo in tutta la sua potenza e puntando verso la grande libertà che questa musica cerca di raggiungere. Formalmente e spiritualmente. 
La voce infine, presente per la prima volta nell'opera sulle stagioni, vola alta e traghetta il vortice autunnale verso le spire dell'inverno calandovisi dentro in profondità e lasciando l'ascoltatore solo con le sue emozioni.
Autumnsymphony è pubblicato dall'etichetta milanese AMS/VM2000 con distribuzione a cura di BTF ed esce il 21 settembre 2009 in lussuosa confezione digipack vinly replica.
