Born in 1991, Minstrel had an outstanding musical approach from the very beginning, using progressive rock in order to combine  the different inspirations of the band members. 
A first demo called ï¿½New Lifeï¿½ and especially their second effort ï¿½Faustï¿½ represented the steps of their musical growth, while ï¿½Ahabï¿½ surely is the winning post  of their development. 
Minstrelï¿½s style bases on three diffenrent musical traditions: classical music (the vocals of Mauro Ghilardini), progressive (the bandï¿½s stunning rythmic section) and rock (the Hendrix-inspired guitar of Michele Savoldelli).
This concept CD is dedicated to the mortal journey of Captain Ahab as told in Melvilleï¿½s Moby Dick, and is characterized by classic guitar riffs, hard rock rythms, the astounding lyrical vocals, in Ahab the typical concept opera meets theatre, operatic melodies, heavy sounds and typical Italian prog rock.
The story of the captain of the Pequod is told by dramatic metal passages, romantic piano interludes, pinkfloydish guitar solos, long opera melodies (with Italian lyrics), and fierce fusion slaps. While Ahab identifies himself with the band, substained by piano only, the fabolus white whale is represented by the  orchestra. 
This is a true an dunique gem of Italian prog rock in the usual deluxe vinyl replica format, with probably the best artwork that has been ever produced by AMS Vinyl Magic. First copies will include a fantastic limited edition poster! 

I Minstrel nascono nel 1991 e fin dagli esordi si contraddistinguono per la peculiaritï¿½ delle composizioni che tentano, attraverso il solido e strutturato linguaggio del progressive di stampo italiano, di unire le diverse ispirazioni musicali dei componenti del gruppo. 
La produzione di un primo demo album intitolato ï¿½New Lifeï¿½ e soprattutto del secondo long play ï¿½Faustï¿½ segnano le tappe di questo tentativo, che trova nel presente ï¿½Ahabï¿½ un punto di arrivo.
Lo stile dei Minstrel ï¿½ fondato principalmente sulla fusione di tre tradizioni musicali distinte: quella 
classica (sostenuta dal cantante Mauro Ghilardini), quella progressiva (sostenuta dalla compagine ritmica del gruppo) e quella rock (grazie alla chitarra di hendrixiana memoria di Michele Savoldelli). 
Difatti il presente concept, dedicato al viaggio mortale di Ahab narrato nel Moby Dick di Melville, viene rivelato con classici riff di chitarra, sorretti da una ritmica tipicamente hard rock abbinata ad una strepitosa impostazione vocale lirica, dove la narrazione del concept intreccia sfumature teatrali, trame melodiche operistiche, slanci heavy-rock e aperture tipiche del piï¿½ classico prog rock italiano. 
Nel ripercorre la vicenda del capitano della Pequod non mancano quindi sprazzi metal, aperture romantiche per solo pianoforte, assoli pinkfloydiani, lunghe melodie di tradizione operistica, feroci slap in stile fusion. Particolare infine la scelta, di identificare Ahab con la band, sostenuta dal solo pianoforte, e la favolosa balena bianca, irraggiungibile archetipo divino, con lï¿½orchestra. 
Un vero e imperdibile gioiello di prog rock Italiano nel consueto formato deluxe vinyl replica, e con quello che ï¿½ probabilmente il piï¿½ bel art work mai uscito per AMS Vinyl Magic. Le prime copie includeranno inoltre un magnifico poster in edizione limitatissima!
